Making A Real Difference.

Hear In Nova Scotia.

Hearing loss affects nearly one in five Nova Scotians — yet too many still face confusion, cost barriers, long waits, and outdated systems.

Hear In Nova Scotia is a grassroots movement bringing people, professionals, workplaces, and policymakers together to change that.

Why This Movement Exists.

For too long, hearing health has been treated as a niche issue.

But the truth is this:

  • Hearing loss is the #1 modifiable risk factor for dementia.
  • Untreated hearing loss increases social isolation, depression, and fall risk.
  • Financial barriers prevent thousands of Nova Scotians from getting help.
  • Most people wait 7–10 years after noticing symptoms before seeking care.

This isn’t a small problem. This is a community problem.

And the only way to solve a community problem is together.

Hear In Nova Scotia exists to bring voices together — individuals, families, clinicians, employers, educators, and advocates — to build a province where hearing care is understood, accessible, and equitable.

WHAT HEAR IN NOVA SCOTIA STANDS FOR.

1. AWARENESS THAT LEADS TO ACTION

1. AWARENESS THAT LEADS TO ACTION

Most Nova Scotians know someone struggling with hearing loss. Few understand its impact on brain health, work, aging, and daily life. We’re here to change that through clear, respectful, evidence-based education.

2. FAIR ACCESS FOR ALL

No one should be priced out or confused out of hearing care. We advocate for clearer pathways, reduced barriers, and policies that put Nova Scotians first.
